Blues Collection Featured Artist:
Alex Maryol
The opening licks of "Take These Blues Away" are so expressive, so darkly melodic, so—perfect that by the time Alex Maryol's fresh vocals followed, I was a little shocked. Maryol's leads had subliminally convinced me that the voice of Buddy, B.B. or, at the very least, Clapton would accompany them. Instead, Alex's young, charming voice rides alongside his bluesy Telecaster wail, and damn if they don't stick together till the very end.
A native of Santa Fe, Maryol picked up a guitar at seven years old and hasn't put one down since. Though an avid musician all through his childhood, he didn't discover the blues until his freshman year in high school—Robert Johnson, R.L. Burnside, Stevie Ray Vaughn and, most importantly, The Rolling Stones. His passion for the Stones underscore a deep love for the blues. "Really all music," he expounds, "can be traced back to the blues."

Revolution is sending the sounds of undiscovered artists echoing across the music landscape.
This is about the freedom to create and be heard - to expose people to music they don't even know they want to hear - to give them the chance to discover. By working with independently owned businesses, visual artists, musicians and KTAO 101.9FM, the worlds most powerful solar radio station, we are able to present original songs released by independent musicians the way they wanted, not how some big record company thinks they should sound. "The Revolution Collection - Blues" is the second in a series from Revolution.
