Blues Collection Featured Artist:
John Carey
So the guy does sound a lot like Clapton. But Clapton can't play the harp like that. John Carey's "They Call Me The Doctor" is like a blues-rock primer: "If you can do it like this," John says, "then you can do it." His decidedly Slowhandish vocal character and that damn harmonica all contribute to the archetypal rock-blues tune: slow-moving, smile-inducing, crafted from the heart.
John Carey has been a New Orleans blues man for most of his career. There and in Memphis, Carey has performed with the likes of Buddy Guy, Bo Diddley, and Junior Wells. Now writing and performing blues and country here in Taos, his brilliant harmonica (not to mention the talent of his brothers, showcased in this tune) have landed him Big Headed Kid live recording at the Old Blinking Light restaurant. If you find that album, recorded in 2003, be sure to check out "Taos Moon," a song Carey wrote about "being down by the river at night during a full moon. That whole area where the Hondo and Rio Grande rivers meet is a really magic place." To listen to music John Carey wrote about New Mexico, he promises, is to "hear songs that have the vibration of this place—these songs are about the Southwest."

Revolution is sending the sounds of undiscovered artists echoing across the music landscape.
This is about the freedom to create and be heard - to expose people to music they don't even know they want to hear - to give them the chance to discover. By working with independently owned businesses, visual artists, musicians and KTAO 101.9FM, the worlds most powerful solar radio station, we are able to present original songs released by independent musicians the way they wanted, not how some big record company thinks they should sound. "The Revolution Collection - Blues" is the second in a series from Revolution.
